This squad of 'Hammers' for
Dust Tactics were pretty easy to paint, I even managed to salvage the pre-printed insignia on their chests.
Soft plastic figures do present a bi of a challenge when it comes to de-flashing. To be fair to Fantasy Flight and to the whole Dust studios production team, the models were pretty sound in the first instance.

I was pleased that I was able to keep them relatively light although I still think they could have benefited from lighter base-coats. After finishing these I started exploring some slightly lighter tones to replace my standard 'olive drab variants' palette.
These look great Ad.
ReplyDeleteThanks Simon. Definitely a learning curve with these. I'd painted zombies and survivors for so long I just wasn't used to anything with a military theme
DeleteGreat paintjob on these; are the bases specific for Dust ?
ReplyDeleteThanks Joe, yes, all Dust miniatures have very specific and characteristic design. The plan is to replace them all fully with resin bases, hence the lack of treatment
DeleteGreat work sir. I didn't realise they were soft plastic. Are all the range?
ReplyDeleteThanks Bob. Yes, they're reasonably hard in general terms but they are flexible and when using a file to remove any flash you have to spend a bit more time as what you remove often stays attached, simple enough to go over with a knife, but still different to hard plastic. The vehicles are hard plastic by the way
